digital photographyDo you remember that anniversary or birthday party that was so special? Do you wish you had used a digital photography professional to do the job? Looking at the photographs now, you wish you had listened to your husband/wife.

Well, don't fret; here are some digital photography tips to improve your skills in capturing those memorable moments!

Get to know your camera

Do you remember when you bought your camera? You received a thick manual for operating the camera, didn't you? What we normally do, is scan through the manual and then never look at it again. Wrong! It is important to go through the manual carefully and know everything there is to know about your camera.

Control of the flash

The flash is one of the most important tools the digital camera has. Most digital cameras have an automatic flash, but sometimes it is necessary to switch it off/on manually (depending on the light conditions).

Hold the camera level

One of the basic rules of taking photographs is to hold the camera level. Digital photography cameras have LCD screens; you can use this as a guide. Look for horizontal lines that can also serve as a guide.

Use the ISO settings

The ISO setting of the camera controls its sensitivity to light. When taking a still picture, the ISO setting should be low. If taking photographs of moving objects, the ISO setting should be higher.

Make use of the tripod

The Tripod is useful when taking photographs in low-light conditions or fast moving objects. Look for a tripod that is easy to carry, if it is for personal use.

If you look around the shops, you will see that digital cameras get 'smarter' every day. But remember: It is not the camera that takes good photographs but the photographer. Use these tips when capturing those precious moments with digital photography and see the results for yourself! Remember: practice makes perfect!
